Possible Causes
Food or grease buildup on cavity walls,Carbonized food on waveguide cover,Damaged or burnt mica waveguide cover,Use of metal containers or foil
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Stop the microwave immediately and unplug it if you see sparks.
- 1. Remove metal objects: Ensure no metal utensils, twist ties, or foil are inside. Use only microwave-safe containers.
- 2. Clean the cavity: Once cool, wipe the interior with a mild detergent solution. Pay special attention to corners and around the waveguide cover (usually a rectangular panel on the side wall).
- 3. Inspect waveguide cover: If the mica cover is burnt, cracked, or has holes, it must be replaced. Do not operate the microwave without this cover.
- 4. Replace cover: Fit a new Beko-compatible waveguide cover, cutting to size if supplied as a sheet, and secure it as originally.
Note: Persistent arcing after cleaning and cover replacement may indicate deeper cavity or magnetron issues requiring professional service.
