Possible Causes
Loose harness between display board and main control, Corroded connectors on UI board, Failed user interface PCB, Faulty main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before removing the control panel.
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E1 clears temporarily, an intermittent connection is likely.
- Access control area: Remove the top grille and control panel to expose the user interface and main control boards.
- Check harness connections: Reseat all multi-pin connectors between the UI/display board and the main control PCB. Ensure they are fully engaged and locked.
- Inspect for corrosion or damage: Look for signs of moisture, corrosion, or burned components on both boards. Clean light corrosion with isopropyl alcohol.
- Board replacement: If E1 persists, determine whether the UI or main control is at fault (service manual may provide diagnostic steps). Replace the defective board with the correct Fisher & Paykel part.
