Possible Causes
Stuck or shorted keypad button, Liquid ingress into touch panel, Shorted keypad ribbon cable, Faulty user interface PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Check for contamination: Inspect the keypad surface for signs of liquid spills, cleaning fluid, or food residue. Wipe gently with a slightly damp cloth and then dry thoroughly.
- Test keypad response: After drying, reconnect power and test each key. If F7 appears when a specific key is pressed, that key is likely shorted.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel and check the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board. Look for cracks, kinks, or burn marks. Reseat the cable firmly.
- Isolate keypad: With power disconnected, unplug the keypad ribbon from the control board. Restore power briefly. If F7 no longer appears with the keypad disconnected, the keypad assembly is faulty and should be replaced.
- Replace keypad/UI assembly: Order the correct Fisher & Paykel touch panel or UI assembly and install it according to the service instructions.
