Possible Causes
Failed primary door switch, Failed secondary or monitor door switch, Misaligned door latch hooks, Damaged door switch mounting bracket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave. Door switch circuits are low voltage, but removing the cover exposes high‑voltage components.
- Step 1 – Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Look for bent hinges, damaged latch hooks, or debris around the door frame preventing full closure.
- Step 2 – Listen for clicks: Slowly open and close the door while listening for distinct clicks from the interlock switches. A missing click can indicate a failed or misaligned switch.
- Step 3 – Inspect latch and switches (advanced): Remove the outer cabinet and control panel to access the door switch cluster on the right side. Check that the plastic latch bracket is not cracked and that switches are firmly seated.
- Step 4 – Test switches with a multimeter: With the unit unplugged, remove the wires from each switch and test continuity in both door open and closed positions. Replace any switch that does not change state correctly.
- Step 5 – Reassemble and test: Refit the switches and bracket securely, ensuring correct orientation. Reassemble the cabinet and test operation.
Note: Use only genuine Indesit‑specified door switches with the correct ratings.
