Possible Causes
Shorted membrane keypad contacts, moisture or liquid inside the control panel, damaged keypad ribbon cable, faulty control board key-scan circuit.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before working on the control panel.
- Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then plug back in. If SE returns immediately, a hardware fault is likely.
- Dry and clean keypad: If the panel was exposed to steam or spills, leave the unit unplugged for several hours to dry. Wipe the surface gently with a dry cloth.
- Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the control panel and check the ribbon cable for corrosion or damage. Reseat it firmly into the control board connector.
- If SE persists: Replace the membrane keypad or the entire control panel assembly. If a new keypad does not resolve the issue, the main control board may also need replacement.
