Microwave stops heating shortly after START and displays E02, or never heats although the timer counts down and the turntable rotates.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Unplug the microwave. Do not attempt to touch or discharge the high-voltage capacitor, magnetron, or transformer unless you are a trained technician. High voltage can be lethal.
User-level checks:
- 1. Ventilation: Ensure the microwave has adequate clearance on all sides as specified in the Vida manual. Remove any items blocking the rear or side vents. Clean dust buildup from external vents with a soft brush or vacuum.
- 2. Cooking load: Never run the microwave empty. Place a microwave-safe cup of water inside and test again. Running empty can overheat the magnetron and trigger E02.
- 3. Overheat reset: Allow the unit to cool for 30–45 minutes with the door open, then plug back in and test with a cup of water.
Technician-level checks (do not attempt if untrained):
- Verify the cooling fan motor operates when cooking starts.
- Check continuity of the magnetron thermal cut-out and cavity thermostat.
- Test the magnetron for shorts and replace if defective.
If E02 returns after ensuring proper ventilation and cool-down, the magnetron or its thermal protection is likely faulty and should be replaced by a professional.
