Possible Causes
Worn Start button tact switch, Damaged keypad membrane, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Firmware lock due to a previous error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing the control panel.
- Check child lock: Some Daewoo models feature a child lock. Look for a lock icon on the display and hold the designated buttons (often + and - or Timer) for several seconds to unlock it.
- Panel reset: Unplug the appliance for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in and try again. This can clear minor firmware glitches.
- Inspect keypad cable: Remove the front panel and re-seat the flat ribbon cable connecting the keypad to the main PCB.
- Test button feel: Press the Start button. If it feels mushy or does not click, the tact switch on the PCB may need replacement.
If other buttons work but the Start button never responds, even after reseating cables, replace the keypad/control panel assembly.
