Possible Causes
Lid not fully closed, Defective lid position switch, Misaligned lid hinge or latch, Damaged lid lock wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker before any inspection. Allow the unit to cool completely if it was recently used.
- Check lid closure: Open and close the lid firmly several times. Make sure the rubber gasket is seated correctly and no food debris is blocking the latch area.
- Inspect lid latch and hinge: Look at the front latch hook and the hinge pins. If the lid feels loose or misaligned, gently realign it so it closes evenly on all sides.
- Clean the lid lock area: With the unit unplugged, use a soft brush or cloth to remove rice, starch, or food particles around the lid lock slot and the metal latch on the body.
- Test the lid switch: With the lid open, locate the small plastic or metal actuator that presses the lid switch (usually near the hinge or latch). Press it gently with a non-metal tool while plugging in and see if the error clears when you close the lid normally. Do not bypass the switch permanently.
- Check wiring (advanced): Remove the top cover (if you are qualified and warranty has expired). Inspect the lid switch wiring harness for broken insulation, loose connectors, or corrosion. Reseat the connector on the main control board.
- If E1 persists after cleaning and reseating connectors, the lid switch / lid lock assembly is likely faulty and should be replaced or serviced by an authorized Electrolux technician.
