Possible Causes

Open circuit in the top heating element, Burned connector at grill element terminals, Broken wiring from the element to the relay on the control board, Faulty relay on the main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off the circuit breaker or unplug the oven before opening any panels.

Inspection steps:

  • Remove the oven from the cabinet sufficiently to access the rear panel. Then, remove the rear cover.
  • Locate the upper (top/grill) heating element terminals. Check for burned or loose spade connectors.
  • With the wires disconnected from the element, measure the resistance across the element terminals. A typical grill element has a resistance of 15–40 Ω. An open circuit (OL) indicates a failed element.
  • Inspect the wiring from the element to the main control board for heat damage or breaks. Repair or replace any damaged wires.
  • If the element and wiring are good, the relay on the main control board that drives the top element may be defective, and the board may need replacement.
