Possible Causes

Faulty door switch not detecting the closed position, Misaligned door latch, Broken wiring from the door switch to the control board, Defective door lock mechanism on pyrolytic models

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power before removing panels.

Check door switch and latch:

  • Open the oven door and locate the door switch (usually near the frame where the door presses in).
  • Press the switch plunger by hand and listen for a clear click. If there is no click or it feels loose, the switch may be faulty.
  • Inspect the door latch and hinges for misalignment or damage that prevents the door from fully closing and actuating the switch.
  • Access the switch from the front control panel or side (depending on the model) and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the plunger. Replace the door switch if it does not change state.
  • On Bomann pyrolytic models with a door lock motor, check that the lock engages and the wiring to the lock switch is intact.
