Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD), Pinched or shorted sensor wiring harness, Moisture in sensor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker before removing any panels or touching wiring.
- Check sensor resistance: Remove the oven temperature sensor as for F3 and measure resistance at room temperature. A very low reading (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor.
- Inspect wiring for shorts: Follow the sensor harness from the cavity to the control board. Look for areas where the insulation is melted against the oven liner or frame. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Dry connectors: If the oven was recently steam-cleaned or heavily cleaned, disconnect the sensor connector and allow it to dry. Clean any corrosion with electrical contact cleaner.
- Replace components: Install a new oven temperature sensor (RTD) if shorted. If the sensor and wiring are good but F4 remains, replace the electronic oven control (EOC).
