Oven overheats, temperature rises far above the set value, sometimes burning food

Safety first: Turn off the oven and allow it to cool completely. Isolate the appliance from mains power before opening any panels.

• Access the temperature sensor: Inside the Etna oven cavity, locate the temperature sensor probe (usually at the rear upper area). Remove the mounting screw(s) and gently pull the sensor into the cavity to access the connector.
• Measure sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Typical Etna NTC sensors read around 1–1.1 kΩ at 20–25°C (check your model’s service data if available). A reading near 0 Ω (short) or OL (open) indicates a faulty sensor.
• Inspect sensor wiring: Follow the harness from the sensor to the main PCB. Look for pinched, burned, or broken wires. Repair any damage with heat‑resistant wire and proper connectors.
• Check heater relay on PCB: With power still disconnected, remove the control panel to access the main PCB. Inspect the heater relay for welded contacts or burn marks. A relay stuck closed can cause continuous heating. Replace the main PCB if the relay is defective.
• Recalibrate if available: Some Etna models allow temperature calibration via the user menu. After replacing the sensor or PCB, run a temperature test with an oven thermometer and adjust calibration if the manual allows.
