Possible Causes

Food or grease buildup on elements, spillage on the cavity floor, failing insulation on wiring, overheating plastic trims.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If heavy smoke appears, switch off the oven and ventilate the room. Do not leave the oven unattended.

  • Inspect cavity: Once cool, remove racks and check for heavy grease or food deposits on the elements and cavity surfaces. Clean with a suitable oven cleaner (avoid spraying directly on elements or sensors).
  • Check wiring: Remove the rear panel and inspect wiring near hot areas for signs of melting or charring. Replace any damaged wires with high-temperature cable.
  • Test at moderate temperature: After cleaning, run the oven empty at 180–200°C for 20–30 minutes to burn off residues, with good ventilation.
  • Monitor trims: If plastic trims or control panel parts are overheating, verify that the cooling fan is operating correctly and that ventilation clearances are adequate.
