Possible Causes
Failed convection fan motor, open convection fan wiring, stuck or obstructed fan blade, faulty fan relay on EOC.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power at the breaker. Internal metal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Check convection fan operation:
- Start a convection bake cycle and listen for the fan (with the door closed). If it is silent and F50 appears, continue.
- Inspect the fan from inside the oven:
- Remove the convection fan cover (screws are at the rear of the oven cavity).
- Try spinning the fan blade by hand; it should turn freely without scraping.
- If seized or very stiff, replace the Convection Fan Motor Assembly.
- Access the rear of the oven:
- Pull the oven out from the wall (or remove it from the cabinet for wall ovens).
- Remove the rear panel to access the convection fan motor terminals.
- Check for loose or burnt wires; repair as needed.
- Test the motor:
- With power disconnected, measure the motor winding resistance; an open circuit indicates a bad motor.
- If comfortable and safe, you can bench-test the motor with proper AC voltage using insulated connectors.
- Control board:
- If the motor and wiring are good, the fan relay on the EOC may be defective; replace the Electronic Oven Control (EOC).
