Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor assembly, broken or jammed lock mechanism, faulty door lock switch, loose wiring between the lock and EOC.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker before working near the door lock. Surfaces may still be hot after a self-clean attempt.
- Try to clear the lock:
- Turn power OFF for 5 minutes, then ON.
- Attempt to start and then cancel a self-clean cycle to force the lock to cycle.
- Access the door lock assembly:
- On many Frigidaire Professional ovens, the lock motor is located behind the front panel or under the cooktop.
- Remove the top panel or front trim as needed to access the Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly.
- Inspect the mechanism:
- Check for bent linkage, broken plastic pieces, or obstructions preventing the latch from moving.
- Manually move the latch to verify it can travel fully.
- Test the lock motor and switches:
- With power disconnected, measure the resistance of the lock motor coil; an open reading indicates a bad motor.
- Check the continuity of the lock and unlock switches while manually moving the latch.
- Replace the Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly if the motor or switches fail tests.
- Check wiring to the EOC:
- Inspect the harness for loose or burnt connectors at both the lock assembly and the EOC.
