Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock latch, Misaligned door strike, Faulty lock switch or sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the lock mechanism. Do not force the door closed or open with tools, as the glass can shatter.

  • 1. Inspect door strike: Check the metal hook on the oven frame for bending or misalignment. Gently straighten it if necessary so it lines up with the lock mechanism.
  • 2. Listen for lock motor: When starting the self-clean cycle (before disconnecting power), listen for the lock motor running. A humming sound or no sound at all can indicate a failed motor or a jam.
  • 3. Access lock assembly: Remove the top panel or front control panel (depending on the model) to reach the door lock motor and latch assembly.
  • 4. Check for mechanical binding: Manually move the lock arm with power off. It should move smoothly. Clean any grease or debris and lightly lubricate pivot points with high-temperature-rated lubricant (sparingly).
  • 5. Test lock motor and switches: Measure the resistance of the lock motor coil and the continuity of the lock position switches. Replace the door lock assembly if the motor is open or the switches do not change state when actuated.
