Possible Causes
Shorted sensor element, Sensor wires shorted to the chassis, Moisture or carbon tracking at the sensor connector.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before testing.
- Test sensor: Remove and disconnect the temperature sensor, then measure its resistance. A very low reading (near 0 ohms) indicates a short circuit.
- Inspect wiring path: Look for melted insulation or wires touching metal along the sensor's wiring harness route.
- Clean connector: If there is carbon buildup or moisture at the connector, clean it with electrical contact cleaner and dry thoroughly.
- Replace sensor/harness: Replace the sensor if it is shorted. If the wiring is damaged, repair it with high-temperature wire or replace the harness.
