Possible Causes
Tripped thermal cutout, Open bake and broil elements, Faulty mechanical thermostat (non-electronic models), Loose connection at the power terminal block
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing any panels. High voltage is present at the terminal block and heating elements.
- 1. Check power supply: Verify that both legs of the supply (L1 and L2) are present at the terminal block. A missing leg can cause the lights to work but prevent heating.
- 2. Inspect thermal cutout: Locate the high-limit thermostat or thermal fuse on top of the oven cavity. Test for continuity. Replace if it shows an open circuit.
- 3. Test elements: Measure the resistance of both the bake and broil elements. Replace any element that shows an open circuit.
- 4. Mechanical thermostat: On La Cornue models with a mechanical oven thermostat, verify that the shaft turns smoothly and that the thermostat contacts close when calling for heat. Replace if found defective.
