Possible Causes

Protective oils and manufacturing residues burning off, new insulation curing, coatings on elements curing.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: This is usually normal for a new oven but should not produce visible flames or heavy smoke.

  • Burn-in cycle: Remove all packaging and accessories. Heat the empty oven to around 220–250 °C for 30–60 minutes with good ventilation (windows open, extractor on).
  • Repeat if needed: If odour persists, repeat the burn-in once or twice more.
  • Monitor: If the smell is extremely strong, acrid, or accompanied by smoke from a specific area, switch off and inspect for leftover packaging or a fault.
