Possible Causes

Failed bake element, Failed broil element (if used for preheat), Faulty relay on oven control board, Loose element wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before touching any internal wiring or elements.

  • Visual element check: Inspect the bake and broil elements inside the oven for visible breaks, blisters, or burn spots.
  • Continuity test: Unplug the oven. Remove the rear panel to access element terminals. Disconnect the wires and test each element with a multimeter for continuity. A good element typically reads 10–40 Ω depending on model. Replace any open element.
  • Check wiring and terminals: Look for burnt or loose terminals where the elements connect to the harness. Repair or replace damaged connectors.
  • Control board output: If both elements test good, the control board may not be sending power. With power ON (only if trained), carefully check for 240 VAC at the element terminals when the oven is calling for heat. If no voltage is present and wiring is intact, replace the control board.
  • Re-test preheat: After replacing any faulty parts, run a preheat cycle and confirm the oven reaches set temperature without error.
