Safety first: Disconnect the mains power before accessing the heating element.

Steps:

• Visual inspection: Inspect the bottom element (if visible) for cracks or burn marks. For hidden elements, access them from the rear.
• Continuity test: Disconnect the element and measure its resistance. An open circuit reading indicates a faulty element.
• Check terminals: Inspect the spade connectors for signs of overheating or looseness; replace any damaged connectors.
• Replace element: Remove the mounting screws and fit a new bottom oven element of the correct rating.
• Selector/relay: If the element is in good condition but not receiving power, test the function selector switch or the control board relay for continuity when in bake mode.
