Morphy Richards oven overheats rapidly, may scorch food, and displays E2 error.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power before inspection. Surfaces may be extremely hot; allow full cooling.
Diagnostic steps:
- Power reset: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes, then restore. If E2 returns, proceed.
- Access the sensor: Remove the rear or top panel (depending on model) to access the temperature sensor probe and its connector.
- Visual inspection: Look for melted insulation, signs of the sensor touching the metal cavity, or grease/moisture inside the connector.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A very low resistance (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor. Compare to expected value from the service manual.
- Check for shorts to earth: With one meter lead on the sensor body or wire and the other on the oven chassis, ensure there is no continuity.
- Replace components: If the sensor is shorted or reading far below spec, replace the oven temperature sensor probe. Clean or replace any contaminated connectors. If the sensor and wiring are good but E2 persists, the electronic control board may need replacement.
Warning: Overheating can damage insulation and wiring. If you see extensive heat damage, stop and call a professional.
