Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor, Stuck thermostat relay on PCB, Faulty mechanical thermostat (on knob-controlled models), Miswired heating elements
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the oven at the mains immediately to prevent further overheating.
- Verify settings: Confirm that the temperature knob or digital setting is not accidentally set too high and that any grill function is off.
- Check sensor: Test the temperature sensor resistance; a very low reading may indicate a short. Replace if faulty.
- Inspect control board: Look for a relay that may be stuck closed (burnt or welded contacts). If the elements heat even when the oven is switched off at the control, the relay is likely stuck and the PCB must be replaced.
- Mechanical thermostat: On models with a rotary thermostat, replace the thermostat if it does not click off when the cavity is hot or if testing shows it does not open at the rated temperature.
