Possible Causes
Debris or liquid under touch panel, Permanently shorted keypad contact, Cracked control glass pressing on sensor, Faulty touch controller IC on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the oven before cleaning or disassembling the control panel.
- Clean the fascia: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Avoid excessive moisture around the edges.
- Power cycle: Leave the oven unplugged for 15 minutes, then reconnect and see if E18 clears.
- Inspect behind the panel: Remove the control fascia and look for sticky residue, corrosion, or foreign objects pressing on the touch sensors. Clean gently with isopropyl alcohol and a lint‑free cloth.
- Check for cracks: If the glass is cracked or warped, it may be permanently activating a key. Replace the control fascia or touch panel assembly.
- Replace keypad/PCB: If a specific key remains "pressed" according to diagnostics, replace the touch control panel or main PCB as per Salter service instructions.
Warning: Do not spray cleaners directly onto the control panel; apply to a cloth first.
