Possible Causes
Worn or bent door hinges, Loose hinge mounting screws, Deformed oven door frame, Damaged hinge receivers in the cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool before working on the door.
- Inspect hinges: Open the door and check both hinges for bending, excessive play, or broken springs. Replace hinges in pairs if worn.
- Check mounting points: Tighten the screws securing the hinges to the door and to the oven chassis. If screw holes are stripped, repair with appropriate fixings.
- Test closure: Close the door and check alignment with the front panel. If one side sits lower, the corresponding hinge or receiver may be damaged and should be replaced.
- Replace hinge receivers: On some Salter models, the hinge arms slot into receivers inside the cavity. Inspect these for wear or cracking and replace if necessary.
Warning: Oven doors are heavy and glass can break; support the door when removing hinges.
