Possible Causes

Heavy grease build-up on cavity surfaces, spilled food on the bottom panel or elements, foil touching heating elements, incorrect use of the grill with fatty foods.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the oven if heavy smoke appears. Open windows for ventilation and avoid inhaling fumes.

  • Inspect interior: Once cool, remove racks and check for burnt-on food, grease pools, or foil touching elements.
  • Deep clean: Use a suitable oven cleaner or a baking soda paste to clean the cavity, racks, and trays. Avoid spraying directly on elements; wipe them gently with a damp cloth when cool.
  • Avoid foil on base: Do not line the oven floor with foil, as it can trap heat and cause burning. Use a proper drip tray instead.
  • Run a burn-off cycle: After cleaning, run the oven empty at 200–220°C for 30–45 minutes to burn off remaining residues, ensuring good ventilation.
