Possible Causes

Failed door switch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door switch actuator

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power before working on the door switch.

  • Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Bent hinges or a warped door can prevent the switch from actuating.
  • Locate door switch: On many Tristar ovens, the door switch is behind the front frame near the latch. Remove the front trim or side panel to access it.
  • Test switch: Disconnect the wires and test the switch with a multimeter. It should change from open to closed (or vice versa) when the door is opened/closed.
  • Adjust or replace: If the switch does not change state reliably, adjust its position slightly so the door actuator engages it fully. If still faulty, replace the door switch / door sensor.

Reassemble and test that the light and oven functions respond correctly to door opening and closing, and that E13 is cleared.
