Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock latch, Faulty door lock position switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool and disconnected from mains before working on the door lock system.
- Check for mechanical obstruction: Inspect the door latch area for bent metal, grease buildup, or foreign objects preventing full closure.
- Access lock assembly: On many Tristar ovens, the lock motor and switches are located at the top front or rear. Remove the top cover or rear panel to access the assembly.
- Test lock motor: With the connector unplugged, measure resistance across the lock motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Also check that the linkage moves freely by hand.
- Inspect microswitches: The lock assembly usually has one or more microswitches to signal locked/unlocked status. Test each switch with a multimeter for proper open/closed operation when actuated.
- Replace assembly if needed: If the motor is faulty or the mechanism is worn, replace the complete door lock assembly for your Tristar model.
After reassembly, restore power and attempt a self-clean cycle to verify that the door locks and E9 is cleared.
