Possible Causes
Failed tangential cooling fan motor, Stuck cooling fan relay on PCB, Faulty temperature sensor near control panel, Short-circuited wiring to the fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power before removing the top cover or control panel.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Identify symptom: Note whether the cooling fan never runs, runs constantly, or stops prematurely after cooking.
- 2. Access cooling fan: Remove the top cover to expose the tangential cooling fan located above the oven cavity.
- 3. Test fan motor: Spin the fan by hand; it should rotate freely. Check resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- 4. Check supply to fan: With power on (qualified person only), measure the voltage at the fan when it should be running. No voltage suggests a relay or PCB fault.
- 5. Inspect PCB relay: Look for a stuck or burnt relay controlling the cooling fan. Replace the main control board if the relay is found to be defective.
- 6. Replace faulty parts: Fit a new Zanussi cooling fan motor if the original is seized or open-circuited.
Warning: The cooling fan protects surrounding cabinets from heat; do not operate the oven with a non-functioning fan.
