Possible Causes
RTD probe coated with grease, RTD probe positioned incorrectly, Control board calibration drift, Excessive pellet feed due to firmware or board fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Let the grill cool to a safe temperature before touching the probe.
- Clean RTD probe: Gently wipe the temperature probe inside the cook chamber with a soft cloth and mild degreaser to remove baked-on grease.
- Check probe mounting: Ensure the probe is firmly attached to the side wall and not touching grates or metal surfaces that heat faster than the air.
- Avoid frequent lid opening: Opening the lid repeatedly can cause the controller to overfeed pellets trying to recover temperature.
- Controller reset: Power cycle the grill to reset the control logic. If overshoot persists, the control board may need recalibration or replacement.
