Display shows Er7 and grill temperature reading is far below actual or stuck

Safety first: Disconnect power before working on sensors.

• Locate ambient sensor: Some Broil King pellet models include a separate ambient or hood sensor. Refer to your manual to locate it (often near the hood or side wall).
• Clean sensor: Wipe off any heavy grease or soot buildup with a soft cloth and mild degreaser. Avoid soaking the sensor.
• Check wiring: Follow the sensor wire to the control board. Ensure the connector is fully seated and the wire is not cut or pinched.
• Replace if faulty: If the sensor is physically damaged or readings remain incorrect after cleaning and reseating, replace the ambient temperature sensor with a Broil King-compatible part.
• Recalibrate (if supported): Some controllers allow calibration. Follow the manual to recalibrate the temperature reading after sensor replacement.
