Lid Open Detection / Low Temperature Protection
Controller displays 'OPEN LID' or a similar message, and the temperature will not rise to the setpoint.

Possible Causes
Lid left open during startup, faulty lid switch (on models with a lid sensor), RTD probe reading rapid temperature drop, controller logic preventing over-fueling.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Avoid leaning over the cook chamber when igniting; hot air and smoke can escape rapidly.
- Step 1 – Close lid: Ensure the grill lid is fully closed during startup and normal operation.
- Step 2 – Wait for recovery: After closing the lid, allow several minutes for the controller to stabilize the temperature and clear the 'OPEN LID' status.
- Step 3 – Check lid switch (if present): Some models use a magnetic or mechanical lid switch. Inspect the switch and magnet alignment. Adjust or replace the switch if it does not change state when the lid is opened or closed.
- Step 4 – Inspect RTD probe: A loose or damaged RTD can cause false rapid temperature drops. Verify the probe is firmly mounted and the wiring is intact.
