Possible Causes
Grill still hot from a previous cook, RTD probe exposed to direct sunlight or external heat, RTD probe mispositioned near the fire pot, control board misreading the sensor.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Confirm the grill is not actively on fire. If safe, proceed.
Steps:
- Allow full cooldown: If you recently finished cooking, let the grill cool to ambient temperature with the lid open before restarting.
- Check probe location: Ensure the RTD probe is mounted in its factory location on the side wall and not bent toward the fire pot or touching metal surfaces that heat faster.
- Shield from sun: Direct sunlight on the probe or lid can cause false high readings. Move the grill to a shaded area or use a cover when not in use.
- Restart: Once the grill is cool and the probe is correctly positioned, restart. If H1 persists, test or replace the RTD probe.
