Possible Causes
Fire creeping up the auger due to an overfilled fire pot, Combustion fan not running or running backward, Auger tube packed with pellets, Poor exhaust flow from a blocked chimney.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill immediately. Keep the hopper lid closed to limit oxygen.
- Allow to cool: Wait until all smoke subsides and the grill is cool.
- Inspect the fire pot: Remove grates and the diffuser, then clear excess pellets and ash from the fire pot.
- Check the chimney and exhaust: Clean any blockage from the chimney and exhaust path.
- Verify the combustion fan: Ensure the fan runs correctly during startup and cooking. Replace if not operating.
- Prevent overfilling: Do not manually add large amounts of pellets directly into the fire pot.
