Possible Causes
Factory oils and coatings not fully burned off, High temperature used before burn-in, Residual packaging material left inside.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Operate the grill outdoors in a well-ventilated area only.
- Remove all packaging: Ensure all plastic, cardboard, and manuals are removed from inside the grill.
- Perform burn-in: With grates and the drip pan installed, run the grill empty at 350–400°F for 45–60 minutes to burn off manufacturing oils.
- Clean grates: After cool-down, wash cooking grates with warm, soapy water, rinse, dry, and lightly oil.
- Monitor smell: A mild odor during initial burn-in is normal. If a strong chemical smell persists after several burns, contact Nexgrill support.
