Er7
Display shows Er7, and the grill will not power up fully; buttons may be unresponsive, or the display is blank with an error flash.
Control Panel Communication or Keypad Failure
Er8
Control panel shows Er8, and the grill shuts down; this is often associated with power fluctuations or a tripped GFCI.
AC Input Power Fault or Overcurrent Protection
Er9
Display shows Er9, and the grill cannot maintain the set temperature; temperature swings widely, or the reading disappears.
Control Board Temperature Processing Error
FL
Display flashes FL, and the grill shuts down; the fire in the pot has gone out during a cook.
Flame Loss / Flame-Out Detection
H1
Display shows H1, and the actual temperature is much higher than the setpoint; the grill may shut down for safety.
Runaway High Temperature Condition
L1
Display shows L1, and the grill struggles to reach or maintain low temperatures; it may extinguish at low settings.
Low Temperature Control or Smolder Condition
P1
Display shows P1, and the grill temperature is consistently lower than expected; long recovery times after the lid is opened.
Pellet Feed Rate Too Low (P-Setting Adjustment)
P5
Display shows P5, and the grill overshoots the set temperature, cycling between very hot and cooler periods.
Pellet Feed Rate Too High (P-Setting Adjustment)
Symptom
Buttons on the control panel are unresponsive or require very hard presses.
Keypad or Switch Failure
Symptom
Digital display is very dim or flickers, making it difficult to read in normal light.
Weak or Failing Display Module
Symptom
Grease fire occurs in cook chamber; flames visible under drip tray.
Grease Ignition in Drip Pan Area
Symptom
Grease is dripping from seams or bottom of grill instead of into the grease bucket.
Grease Management System Blocked or Misaligned
Symptom
Grill body or lid shows excessive rust; paint is flaking and metal is pitting.
Corrosion of Cook Chamber Components
Symptom
Grill has hot spots and cold spots; uneven cooking across the grate.
Heat Distribution Imbalance
Symptom
Grill leaks smoke heavily from hopper lid; pellets in hopper become warm or discolored.
Backdraft Through Pellet Hopper
Symptom
Grill produces excessive white smoke and soot; food tastes bitter and sooty.
Incomplete Combustion / Poor Air-Fuel Mix
Symptom
Grill produces very little smoke; pellets burn too cleanly and flavor is weak.
Excessive Combustion Airflow
Symptom
Grill temperature is much higher than the display reading; frequent flare-ups and overcooked food.
RTD Probe Misreading Low
Symptom
Grill temperature is much lower than the display reading; food takes much longer to cook than expected.
RTD Probe Misreading High
Symptom
Lid does not close properly; visible gaps along front or sides.
Lid Misalignment or Hinge Deformation
Symptom
Pellets in the hopper swell, crumble, or form clumps, and the feed becomes inconsistent.
Pellet Moisture Contamination
Symptom
The auger does not turn; no pellets feed into the fire pot even though the motor hums or clicks.
Mechanical Auger Jam
Symptom
The auger motor is completely silent; no hum or movement when the grill calls for pellets.
Auger Motor Electrical Failure
Symptom
The built-in meat probe (if equipped) reads incorrect temperatures or no temperature at all.
Meat Probe Sensor Failure or Connection Issue
Symptom
The combustion fan does not run; the fire is smoky and may go out; heavy smoke leaks from the hopper.
Combustion Fan Not Operating
Symptom
The grill frame or legs feel unstable; the unit rocks or wobbles when touched.
Structural Instability of Cart or Legs
Symptom
The grill makes a loud grinding or squealing noise from the hopper area during operation.
Noisy Auger or Motor Bearings
Symptom
The grill makes a rattling or vibrating noise from under the cook chamber during operation.
Loose Combustion Fan or Mounting Hardware
Symptom
The grill powers on but will not ignite; pellets feed into the fire pot, but no flame develops.
Ignition Failure Without Error Code
Symptom
The grill starts but then shuts down after a few minutes; pellets stop feeding, and the fire goes out.
Intermittent Power or Control Board Shutdown
Symptom
The grill struggles to reach high temperatures (e.g., cannot exceed 350°F) even with the lid closed.
Insufficient Heat Output
Symptom
The grill temperature overshoots the setpoint by 50°F or more and then repeatedly drops below the setpoint.
Temperature Overshoot and Oscillation
Symptom
The grill trips the GFCI outlet or breaker as soon as it is plugged in or turned on.
