Possible Causes
Insufficient pellet feed, damp or poor-quality pellets, excessive wind or cold ambient temperature, combustion fan not running at full speed.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill before cleaning or accessing internal components. Allow it to cool.
Steps to address 'ERR LO':
- 1. Check pellet supply: Ensure the hopper is at least half full with dry, premium hardwood pellets. Replace any pellets that appear swollen or crumbly.
- 2. Inspect the fire pot: Remove grates and diffuser, vacuum ash from the fire pot and surrounding area. A heavily ashed pot can smother the flame.
- 3. Verify auger feed: During startup, observe whether pellets are dropping into the fire pot at regular intervals. If feed is weak or intermittent, inspect the auger for partial jams.
- 4. Check combustion fan performance: Listen for a strong, steady fan sound. If airflow seems weak, clean intake vents and consider inspecting the fan for obstructions or failure.
- 5. Shield from wind: Strong wind can strip heat from the cook chamber. Position the grill in a more sheltered location and avoid opening the lid frequently in cold weather.
If 'ERR LO' continues despite good pellets, a clean fire pot, and proper airflow, the auger motor or control board may require professional diagnosis.
