Possible Causes
Combustion fan not running or weak, Firepot full of ash restricting airflow, Exhaust chimney or vents blocked
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and allow it to cool. Wear a dust mask and eye protection when cleaning ash.
Steps to improve combustion:
- Clean firepot: Remove grates, drip tray, and heat baffle. Vacuum all ash from the firepot and surrounding area.
- Check fan operation: With components removed, plug in and start the grill. Confirm the combustion fan runs and blows air into the firepot.
- Inspect exhaust: Ensure the chimney cap is not fully closed and that the chimney and any side vents are free of grease and soot buildup.
- Replace weak fan: If the fan spins slowly, makes grinding noises, or fails to start reliably, replace the combustion fan motor assembly.
- Reassemble and test: After cleaning and any part replacement, reassemble the grill and run a startup to verify stable combustion.
