Possible Causes

Failed fan motor capacitor, Seized fan bearings, Faulty fan motor, Obstruction in the fan blades

Safety first: Turn off power before touching the fan or capacitor. Capacitors can hold a charge.

Check for obstructions: Remove leaves, sticks, or other debris from the fan guard and blades.
Spin test: With power off, gently spin the fan by hand. If it is stiff or grinding, the motor bearings may be failing.
Inspect the capacitor: Look for a bulged or leaking capacitor can. If you are qualified, replace it with the exact same microfarad rating and voltage.
