Possible Causes
Defective ambient NTC sensor, Sensor cable damaged by UV or weather, Loose or corroded connector on the control board, Sensor displaced from its correct mounting position
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before working near electrical components.
- Locate ambient sensor: The ambient NTC sensor is usually clipped near the evaporator coil or on the unit frame in the airflow path.
- Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is not hanging loose or touching hot components. Reattach it to its original location.
- Inspect cable: Look for cracks or cuts in the insulation, especially where the cable exits the cabinet.
- Reconnect: Unplug and reconnect the sensor at the PCB to ensure a solid electrical connection.
- Replace if faulty: If the sensor reading on the display is unrealistic (e.g., -40°C or 99°C) or its resistance is out of specification, replace it with a Hewalex-approved ambient NTC sensor.
