Lockout Due to Repeated Ignition Failures
Symptom
Heater cabinet is excessively hot to the touch during operation
Cabinet Overheating / Poor Ventilation
Symptom
Heater display works but heater does not respond to temperature changes or mode selection
Unresponsive Controls / Keypad Failure
Symptom
Heater emits a strong gas smell around the unit, especially at startup
Gas Leak or Incomplete Ignition
Symptom
Heater is leaking water from the bottom of the cabinet
Internal Water Leak / Heat Exchanger or Plumbing Leak
Symptom
Heater is very noisy; loud fan, rattling, or vibration during operation
Mechanical Vibration / Fan or Blower Noise
Symptom
Heater makes loud banging or knocking noises during operation
Kettling / Boiling in Heat Exchanger
Symptom
Heater produces soot, black staining on cabinet, or dark exhaust
Sooting / Poor Combustion
Symptom
Heater runs but pool water does not reach the set temperature or heats very slowly.
Insufficient Heating Capacity / Flow or Sizing Issue
Symptom
Heater shuts off when pump speed is reduced on a variable-speed pump
Flow-Related Shutdown with Variable-Speed Pump
Symptom
Heater starts then shuts off after a few seconds; may cycle on and off repeatedly without error code
Short Cycling / Unstable Flame or Safety Interruption
Symptom
Heater will not start at all; display is blank and no lights are on
No Power to Heater
Symptom
The heater causes a noticeable drop in water flow or pressure when it runs.
Excessive Hydraulic Restriction
Symptom
The heater display shows erratic or fluctuating water temperature readings.
Unstable Temperature Sensing
Symptom
The heater frequently shuts off due to wind, especially with side winds.
Wind-Induced Flame or Venting Issues
Symptom
The heater frequently shuts off on high limit when the spa is in use with a low water level.
Localized Overheating in Spa Mode
Symptom
The heater is rusting prematurely around the base or flue area.
Corrosion / Environmental Damage
Symptom
The heater trips the household GFCI or RCD when it starts.
Ground Fault / Leakage Current
Symptom
The heater turns on even when there is no call for heat from the pool controller.
