Lowara
Loss of Prime / Air-Locked Suction
Pump runs but there is no water flow; the strainer pot does not fill.

Possible Causes
Air leak at Lowara pump lid O-ring, suction union not sealed, water level too low in pool, suction line blockage, incorrect pump installation height above water level.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the pump or working on suction lines.
- Check pool water level: Ensure the water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening so the skimmer does not draw air.
- Inspect lid O-ring: Remove the Lowara pump lid, clean the sealing surfaces, and inspect the O-ring for cracks or flattening. Replace if damaged and lubricate lightly with silicone grease.
- Check suction unions: Tighten unions on the suction side. If they can be turned by hand easily, remove, clean threads and gaskets, and reinstall.
- Prime the pump: Fill the strainer housing completely with water, replace the lid securely, open any air bleed valves, and start the pump. It may take several minutes to purge air.
- Investigate blockages: If prime is still lost, check skimmer baskets, main drain covers, and suction lines for obstructions. A professional may need to blow out the line.
