Pentair Sta-Rite
Hydraulic Noise / Resonance at High RPM
Pump is unusually loud only at high speed on variable-speed models.

Possible Causes
Excessive flow through undersized plumbing, cavitation at high speed, loose mounting or cover panels.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not place hands near moving parts while the pump is running.
- Reduce maximum RPM: Program the Sta‑Rite variable‑speed pump to a slightly lower maximum speed where noise is acceptable but flow is still adequate.
- Check for cavitation: Look for air in the pump lid and listen for gravelly sounds. If present, open suction valves fully and ensure water level is adequate.
- Secure pump and panels: Tighten mounting bolts and any loose drive covers that may rattle at high speed.
- Evaluate plumbing: If noise persists, consult a professional about whether plumbing size or layout is causing excessive velocity.
