Possible Causes
Flattened or cracked Rheem lid O-ring, Debris on sealing surface, Warped or cracked pump lid, Over-tightening of lid causing distortion
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF the pump before removing the lid.
- Inspect and clean: Remove the lid and clean the mating surfaces on both the lid and pump housing. Remove any sand or debris.
- Examine O-ring: Check the O-ring for cracks, cuts, or flattening. Replace with a Rheem-specified O-ring if any damage is found.
- Lubricate O-ring: Apply a thin coat of pool-safe silicone lubricant to help the O-ring seat properly.
- Check lid condition: Inspect the clear lid for hairline cracks or warping. Replace the lid if damaged.
- Reinstall correctly: Hand-tighten the lid evenly. Do not use tools that can overtighten and distort the lid.
