Possible Causes
Blocked cooling vents on motor, Pump installed in confined space with poor airflow, High ambient temperature at equipment pad, Running at higher HP or speed than design
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and allow the motor to cool before cleaning or moving it.
- Clean vents: Brush or blow out dust, leaves, and cobwebs from the motor cooling vents and fan cover.
- Improve airflow: Ensure the motor has several inches of clearance on all sides and is not enclosed in a tight box. Add ventilation openings if necessary.
- Provide shade: Protect the pump from direct sun with a shade structure while maintaining airflow.
- Reduce load: On variable-speed models, lower the maximum RPM or duty cycle. Verify the pump is not oversized for the plumbing system.
