Possible Causes

Supply voltage above specification, Incorrect wiring (230V pump wired to 277V circuit), Loose or failing control board voltage regulator

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: High voltage can cause serious injury. Turn off the breaker and lock it out if possible before opening any covers.

  • Verify circuit rating: Confirm the pump is connected to the correct voltage circuit (typically 230V for Waterway VS pumps). Check the breaker label and any sub‑panel markings.
  • Measure voltage: With power on and using a multimeter, measure across L1–L2 at the pump. If voltage exceeds the pump’s rated maximum (see nameplate), the circuit is unsuitable and must be corrected by an electrician.
  • Inspect internal connections: With power off, remove the control cover and inspect the control board and terminal block for burnt spots, loose spade connectors, or corrosion. Reseat any loose connectors.
  • Reset and test: Restore power, clear the error by pressing STOP then START. If E02 returns with normal line voltage, the control board’s voltage sensing circuit is likely faulty and the board should be replaced.
