Possible Causes
Liquid spill causing a shorted ignition switch, Stuck or broken ignition microswitch under a knob, Faulty spark generator stuck in trigger mode
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the cooktop to stop the clicking. Close the gas supply if you smell gas.
- Dry the hob: If the issue started after a spill or cleaning, allow the hob to dry for several hours. Use a hair dryer on a low setting (with power off) around the knobs and electrodes.
- Check knobs: Remove the control knobs and inspect the ignition microswitches. Ensure none are stuck in the pressed position. Clean and dry around them.
- Test switches: With power off, use a multimeter to check each switch for proper open/closed operation when pressed.
- Replace faulty switch: If one switch is permanently closed, replace that ignition switch.
- Spark generator: If all switches test correctly but clicking continues when powered, replace the spark generator module.
