Possible Causes
Heavy grease buildup on cavity surfaces or elements, Food spillage on base or grill, Overheating wiring or failing component
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If smoke is heavy or you suspect an electrical fire, switch off power immediately and do not open the door until smoke subsides.
- Initial burn-off: New ovens may smell for the first few uses. Run empty at 200–220°C for 30–60 minutes with good ventilation.
- Clean cavity: Once cool, clean the oven thoroughly with a suitable cleaner, focusing on the base, grill area, and around elements.
- Inspect elements and wiring: Remove rear panel and check for signs of burning insulation or melted connectors. Replace any damaged wiring or components.
- Monitor next use: Run the oven again and observe (from outside) for any smoke or unusual smells. If electrical smell persists, have a technician inspect the appliance.
