Induction zone shows 'U' or a similar symbol and does not heat even though cookware is present.

Possible Causes
Non-magnetic cookware, Warped pot base, Cookware too small for zone, Damaged induction coil detection circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal work is required for basic checks; avoid opening the appliance while it is connected to mains power.
- Step 1 – Test with a magnet: Place a fridge magnet on the bottom of the pot. If it does not stick firmly, the pot is not suitable for induction cooking.
- Step 2 – Check pot size: Ensure the pot base is at least as large as the inner circle of the cooking zone marking.
- Step 3 – Check pot base flatness: Place the pot on a flat surface and see if it rocks. Warped bases reduce contact and may prevent detection.
- Step 4 – Try another pot and zone: Use a known good induction pot on the same zone. If it still shows 'U', test the pot on another zone. If only one zone fails, there may be a detection circuit issue requiring service.
If all suitable cookware fails on a specific zone, contact a Balay service technician to check the induction coil and power module.
