Possible Causes
Faulty thermocouple, Misaligned thermocouple tip not in the flame, Loose thermocouple connection at the gas valve, Weak magnet in the safety valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the gas supply before working on gas components.
- Check flame contact: Ensure the flame directly heats the thermocouple tip. Adjust the burner cap if needed.
- Hold longer: After ignition, hold the knob pressed for 5–10 seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat fully.
- Inspect thermocouple: Clean the tip with a fine abrasive pad. Ensure it is firmly mounted near the flame.
- Replace thermocouple: If the flame still goes out, replace the thermocouple for that burner. If the problem persists, the gas valve's safety magnet may be faulty, and the valve should be replaced by a qualified gas technician.
Warning: Gas work must comply with local regulations; use a licensed gas fitter where required.
